NPR Training and Report Writing
NPR Report Writing
If you came to this page expecting to see something about National Public Radio you
won't find it! I listen daily to NPR for knowledge and edification. But the NPR I work
with means Non-Procedural Representation. It is the report writing tool for Meditech's
hospital information systems software.
I write Meditech custom NPR reports. However, I am proud to
announce that as of December 1, 2008, I will stop doing independent
contractor work and instead will be working for Iatric Systems as an
NPR Consultant.

Writing custom reports is a fun and interesting challenge for me. My aim is to
work with the users to create reports that give them the information they
need - in the way they need it! I plan to carry on this philosophy in my new
role with Iatric Systems and thus contribute to the excellent reputation for
which this company is known.
NPR Training
Teaching other people to use the NPR report writing tool is also interesting and
challenging and always teaches me something, too. I will be continuing to do this
as part of the NPR group at Iatric Systems.
Background
For many moons I was a lab tech and then....
I started working with Meditech Client/Server in 1999 at Sierra Kings District Hospital,
Reedley, California. I gained extensive experience in many Meditech modules, including
Lab, Pharmacy, ITS, Order Entry, Community Wide Scheduling, Admissions, MIS, Medical
Records, Abstracting, BAR, Materials Management, and Payroll/Personnel.
I continued working with Client/Server for a year and a half at the Fresno Surgery Center
(now Fresno Surgical Hospital), Fresno, California. There I gained experience in the
Operating Room Module and continued working with other modules such as Lab,
Abstracting, and Admissions.
Since 2003 I have worked with the Meditech Magic System at Samaritan Health Services,
Corvallis, Oregon. Most of the work I do involves the Lab, Pharmacy, Nursing, and
Operating Room Modules and sometimes Radiology, Order Entry, and PCI. Sometimes I
do a bit in Abstracting, MRI, Admissions, and BAR. I will be leaving this position in
November 2008.
In 2006 I started doing independent consulting work, writing NPR reports and assisting
with CDS attributes. It has been interesting to take on report writing in any module that
has been thrown at me. After all, there's a bit of truth to the statement that if you've seen
one Meditech database you've seen them all!
